“It’s always another”: Kiyan Anthony talks about his girlfriends and his mom La La’s reaction to them

Before his senior basketball season even begins, Kiyan Anthony has been appearing on one interview after another. His latest one is with Chicago Sky power forward and WNBA All-Star Angel Reese, and he opened up about a lot of things to her on her "Unapologetically Angel" podcast.

Reese was asking him all sorts of questions, ranging from what it is like growing up with his father, NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, and mother, actress La La Anthony, to what he would buy with his first big paycheck. However, one question that went through the high school basketball star's defenses was about girls.

The WNBA star asked him if girls were DMing him crazy stuff all the time, and he said yes.

"Yeah, yeah girls be on some other level," he answered. (20:30)

This drew some laughter from Reese, who then brought up his mom, La La Anthony. This led Kiyan to talk about what her usual reaction to these things would be.

"Yeah, she'd be telling me like got to watch out," he told Reese. (20:37-20:39)

Reese then asked Anthony if he had ever brought a girl home, and the teen just nodded while smiling. She then asked if she liked any of the girls he ever brought home with him.

"Nah, never," he said. "I had a girlfriend before but I never like, 'Oh this is my girlfriend,' I just be bringing 'em home." (21:04-21:10)

The host then told Kiyan Anthony that she expected La La to be stricter when it comes to girls, and Anthony admitted that he would usually just tell his mother that the girl he was bringing over was only a friend. He then stated that she was cool with it, leading to Reese asking if La La's opinion mattered in his liking somebody.

"Oh, yeah yeah," answered Kiyan Anthony. "Coz she know, she been through it all, so if she sees something that I don't, I'm going be, if she be like, 'You got to stop talking,' I'm be like, 'All right, you got to go.' It's always another somewhere." (21:21-21:30)

Kiyan Anthony says he will buy his mom, La La, a house

For now, the only woman in Kiyan Anthony's life is his mom, La La, and Angel Reese asked him if he was going to buy her a house when he landed his first big paycheck.

Anthony answered this with a simple "yeah." He also noted that he might buy a house or a car for himself with his first big paycheck. Given the hype building around his future, the size of that check could be eye-opening.
