Ty Haywood, a five-star offensive lineman from Denton, Texas pledged his allegiance to the Alabama Crimson Tide on July 14, 2024. He chose the Tuscaloosa-based program over schools like Texas A&M, Florida State and Oklahoma. However, he's yet to sign with Alabama and is still a flip target for other programs.

The Michigan Wolverines are in play to flip the five-star prospect. Sherron Moore and Co. started a late pursuit of Haywood, which has made the offensive lineman think about his future.

According to Michigan Recruiting Insider EJ Holland, the Wolverines have a chance of landing the five-star prospect if they take the NIL route. Holland said that the formula worked well when recruiting Bryce Underwood and that it might do so with Haywood as well.

"I think the Ty Haywood recruitment is very interesting, and its all gonna come down to NIL. ... Obviously, Michigan has to get him on campus just to get familiar with the program. He’s never been to Ann Arbor, so just getting a first look will be somewhat important," Holland said on the On3 Recruits podcast.
"Ty Haywood is by far the biggest target left on the board, and I think they are willing to put together a package that is extremely competitive and right up there with anybody willing to enter this NIL race."

Alabama has had a tough season on the field, so losing Haywood's commitment might hamper it more. Kalen DeBoer will try his best to hang onto his star five-star commit.

Ty Haywood, committed to Alabama, talks about the Michigan Wolverines

The five-star offensive lineman from Ryan High School is being pursued heavily by the Michigan Wolverines despite his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide. He hasn't signed with Kalen DeBoer's program yet, which has left the door open for a potential flip to the Sherrone Moore-led team.

Haywood shed light on the interest from Michigan in an interview with On3's Chad Simmons.

"I have always had an interest in Michigan, so it’s not like it came out of nowhere. I would say yeah they just backed out when I committed before coming back in," the five-star recruit said, as per On3.

The Crimson Tide had a terrific recruiting cycle, landing 22 commitments from the Class of 2025. They signed 21 of these athletes but are yet to get the signature of Ty Haywood. The Crimson Tide's Class of 2025 is ranked No. 2 in the country, as per 247Sports.
