With Alijah Arenas skipping a grade and reclassifying to the Class of 2025, many top 2026 class player rankings have had to readjust. This includes the 2026 ESPN 60 player rankings being revealed on Thursday. Notre Dame's Tyran Stokes was named at No. 1, St. John Bosco's Brandon McCoy Jr. was named at No. 2, and Caleb Holt was named at No. 3.
Fans sounded off their opinions in the comments. Some agreed with the player rankings, while others disagreed.
"ESPN @espn . It's time to hire someone new to do rankings. Have a group of people discuss and decide," one person wrote on Instagram.
"I know it's hard to pick a top 60 but you guys need to really evaluate a lill better," another wrote.
"Aiden Keinard and Jayden Hodge is good, and I'm glad they made the list, but they not even the guaranteed top players in state for Class of 2026 in jersey but they top sixty in country? What up with that @paulbiancardi and @njhooprecruit," another wrote.
Some complimented ESPN for its picks, while others questioned why their favorite players did not make the list.
"Kendre Harrison, Miles Sadler, Willie Burnett IV top 25 without a doubt. Other than that not a bad list should have Rajan Roberts on there and Jordan Charles," another wrote.
"Where’s Tony Snell," one fan wrote.
"Tyran," another fan wrote.
So far, ESPN is the only outlet to reveal its post-Alijah Arenas reclassification top 2026 class player rankings, as On3 and 247Sports have yet to update theirs. The two other rankings sites still feature Arenas as the No. 4 ranked overall for the Class of 2026.
No. 1 for the top 2026 class player rankings still being debated between Brandon McCoy Jr. and Tyran Stokes
While AJ Dybantsa is the consensus No. 1 for the Class of 2025, who should take the No. 1 spot for the top 2026 class player rankings is still being disputed. ESPN and 247Sports agree that it should be Notre Dame star Tyran Stokes, but Rivals and On3 believe it should be Brandon McCoy Jr.
Stokes is a powerful small forward who knows how to score. Meanwhile, McCoy is a large point guard who knows how to exploit mismatches against defenders who are usually smaller than him. It is a toss-up on which one of them should be the true No. 1 as both continue to improve.
