OTE players sparked an internet debate after answering which players they would start an NBA franchise with. Young stars Jermel Thomas, Jayo, Logan Alexander, Thomas Bassong Croixmarie and Eugri German made the picks. Some made controversial ones, including choosing Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards over NBA champion Jason Tatum of the Boston Celtics.
A few OTE players took Stephen Curry over Jalen Brunson.
Fans flocked to the comments section of Overtime's post to criticize the choices.
"Tatum hate is unreal bro," one user commented.
Some defended the hatred the Boston Celtics star forward has been receiving since his championship win.
"Jayson Tatum is miles better than ant btw," one user wrote.
"this generation is so cooked bro," one fan posted.
More users chipped in with their opinions under the post.
"One day they will accept that JT is the best 🤦🏾♂️," another added.
"I don’t even like the Celtics, but y’all took Ant over Jayson Tatum lmao howwwww 😂," a user wrote.
However, a handful tried to present the OTE players' opinions as well.
"They are not disrespecting someone just because they have a different opinion lol," one hoops fan commented.
The young OTE players idolise these elite basketball stars and aim to play alongside them. Some personal bias and favoritism might have influenced their decisions.
Who did OTE players choose to start franchises with?
First up, the youngsters were given a choice between Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum, and Jermel Thomas, Jayo and Logan Alexander chose Edwards over Tatum.
Then, they were asked to pick between Haliburton and LaMelo Ball, and it was a 3-2 split in LaMelo's favor.
The third duo to be presented was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic, and it ended as a 2-2 tie. De'Aaron Fox won 3-1 against Trae Young as the OTE players' favorite.
To the fans' surprise, four-time Golden State Warriors champion Stephen Curry received all four votes against Jalen Brunson. Cade Cunningham and Jalen Williams' battle ended in a 2-2 draw as well, and so did Ja Morant versus Jaylen Brown.
Finally, Jalen Green and Darius Garland were offered to the players to complete their franchise. Both the players were chosen twice.
