Jeremiah Smith, the Ohio State Buckeyes' star wide receiver, had a fantastic Rose Bowl game at Pasadena on Thursday. The 6-foot-3 athlete led the Buckeyes to a 41-21 victory against the Oregon Ducks. Ohio State came into the game on the back of a dominant win against the Tennessee Volunteers on Dec. 22.

Smith's performances in the playoffs are no fluke, as the receiver was one of the best prospects coming out of high school. He was a five-star recruit in the class of 2025 and was the best wide receiver in his class. Smith was the No.1 overall prospect in the country, as per On3.

The Florida native played for the Chaminade-Madonna Lions for three seasons and led them to an overall record of 38-2. Smith racked up 3,043 yards and 45 touchdowns on 179 receptions.

After playing just seven games as a sophomore, the former five-star recruit became a regular for the Lion in his junior year. He caught 63 passes for 1,098 yards and scored 20 touchdowns. He followed that up with 90 receptions for 1,389 yards and scored 19 touchdowns during his senior year.

Smith was named All-American Bowl Player of the Year during his senior year and was named to the All-American team.

Jeremiah Smith chose the Ohio State Buckeyes

Jeremiah Smith pledged his allegiance to the Ohio State Buckeyes in December 2023. He chose the program over other top CFB programs, such as Miami, Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Georgia. Smith spoke about his choice to sign with the Buckeyes and had high praise for the program's atmosphere.

"The way they care about their players on and off the field," Smith said, per SI. "They're one of the best for their players. It's a family up there in Ohio. Thanksgiving, you know, they'll have their players come over and eat with them, stuff like that. So, I mean, it's definitely a brotherhood up there in Columbus for sure."

The former Chaminade-Madonna receiver was heavily courted by the Miami Hurricanes as well but eventually settled for the Buckeyes. Jeremiah Smith had a terrific first season with the program, catching 70 passes for 1,224 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has been exceptional in the playoffs as well, going off for 290 yards on 13 receptions and scoring four touchdowns in two games.
