Cayden Boozer, a standout guard for the Nightrydas Elite AAU team showcased his talents at Nike EYBL Session 4 in Indianapolis on Friday, July 19. His impressive display on the court attracted coaches like John Calipari, Mark Pope, and Jon Scheyer.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound player from Columbus High School in Florida delivered a stellar performance, recording 20 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks while maintaining remarkable shooting accuracy.
Boozer, the son of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, is being heavily courted by top basketball programs. He has already visited Duke, Miami, Florida and Kentucky, the latter when Calipari was still leading the program.
In an interview with ZAGSBLOG.com, Boozer shared insights into his recruitment journey and his relationships with various coaches.
"I've had conversations with Coach [John] Calipari. I felt a strong connection during my visit when he was still at Kentucky. He has a clear vision for player development and advancing them to the NBA," Boozer said.
Speaking about Duke, Boozer praised their style of play.
“Their playstyle is great. I like how their guards get involved. They can play on and off the ball. Every Duke guard that I see, they always just get better while they are there. It prepares them for the NBA.”
Cayden Boozer also emphasized his rapport with Duke's coach Jon Scheyer, stating:
“We talk every week about basketball or other things. We have a good relationship.”
Regarding Kentucky under Mark Pope, Cayden Boozer said:
“I’ve only gotten one phone call. I don’t know much about his program. But we’re just trying to build that relationship and I’m trying to learn more about [Mark Pope’s] program."
Boozer's twin brother, Cameron Boozer, also ranks high as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 class, playing alongside Cayden for both Nightrydas Elite and Columbus High School.
Illinois basketball eyes 5-star point guard Cayden Boozer
As per Derek Piper of 247Sports, Illinois basketball is intensifying its recruitment efforts for 5-star point guard Cayden Boozer, a top prospect in the 2025 class ranked 19th nationally.
The recruitment of Boozer comes as Illinois shifts focus following the reopening of recruitment by fellow 5-star guard Jeremiah Fears.
The team could feature up to three players who might declare for the NBA draft in 2025. The potential departure of one of these players could create an opportunity for Boozer.
