JuJu Watkins and the USC Trojans just got stronger. With the latest addition of the five-star recruit Jazzy Davidson, USC Trojans coach Lindsay Gottlieb has another strong piece to the roster for next season. Watkins, who broke the NCAA record for scoring the most points (920) as a freshman, is getting a lot of credit for her impact in signing top recruits.
College hoops fans praised Watkins in the comments of an Instagram post announcing Jazzy Davidson's commitment. It is safe to say that the fans are excited about USC's frontcourt duo.
"JUJU’s impact is phenomenal! Welcome aboard young Trojan 💪", commented a fan
One fan was really looking forward to see the duo together on the court "Cannot wait to see her and Juju ball out"
"So her, Juju, the top recruit who’s a freshman, and the girl from Stanford 🤯🔥," an excited fan about JuJu Watkins, Jazzy Washington, and Kiki Iriafen, who transferred from Stanford.
Some other fans commended head coach Gottlieb and the USC Trojans for building an extremely strong roster:
"turning into a UConn/South Carolina level of star power geez," one fan compared the 2024-25 USC Trojans' roster with UConn who have won 11 championships and South Carolina who have won three championships.
"USC roster is loaded 😂," commented another fan.
This fan was happy about the roster but still thinks that the Trojans need some height in their roster, "Woohooo, Yes!!! Now we need to add some players with height."
How can Jazzy Davidson impact JuJu Watkins and the USC roster next season?
With Davidson's commitment, the USC Trojans have now secured a five-star recruit for the third straight season. With the addition of Watkins in 2023, the Trojans also secured Kennedy Smith, Kayleigh Heckel and Avery Howell in 2024.
In her senior year at Clackamas High School, Jazzy Davidson averaged 26.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 3.8 steals per game in her junior year. She also helped Team USA win the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup. Davidson averaged 11.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks per contest in the 2024 Women's U18 National Team.
With Davidson's addition, coach Lindsay Gottlieb looks set to have another weapon alongside Watkins, who averaged 13 more points than the next Trojan last season. Davidson will join a young, up-and-coming USC squad that has added seven first-year players this season:
Guards: Aaliyah Gayles, Rian Forestier, Kayleigh Heckel, Malia Samuels, Kennedy Smith, JuJu Watkins, Dominique Darius, Avery Howell, Brooklyn Shamblin, Talia von Oelhoffen
Forwards: Kiki Iriafen, Laura Williams, Vivian Iwuchukwu, Rayah Marshall (listed as forward/center), Clarice Akunwafu
Iriafen and van Oelhoffen are graduate students, while Marshall and Akunwafo are seniors, so a good portion of the roster will likely return to play with Davidson in 2025.
