Julian Lewis, Dakorien Moore and 3 other elite recruits eyeing state championships in 2024 high school playoffs

The 2024 high school football season is at its climax as the playoffs take center stage. Although the playoffs are over in a few states, others are still in the process of conducting them.

Several top athletes from around the country are still hunting for the state championship this season. Julian Lewis, Amare Adams, Dakorien Moore and Caleb Cunningham are still in pursuit of the championship.

Let's look at five top recruits eyeing for a run at their respective state championships.

Elite recruits eyeing state championships in 2024 high school playoffs

#5 Faizon Brandon Jr.

Faizon Brandon Jr. and the Grimsley Whirlies are 12-0 this season. They are cruising through the playoffs and will take on Charlotte Catholic High School in the next round on Friday.

The 2026 quarterback announced his commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers in August. He chose the Vols over Florida State, Penn State and Alabama.

On3 ranked Brandon No. 6 in the country and the second-best quarterback in the Class of 2026. He is also the best overall prospect from North Carolina.

#4 Caleb Cunningham

The 2025 five-star wide receiver led Choctaw County High School to a 3A semifinal game on Friday against East Webster. The Chargers have won 12 games on the trot after losing their season opener against Parklane Academy.

Cunningham was initially committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide but flipped his commitment to the Rebels on Nov. 13. He chose the Rebels over Auburn, Tennessee and Florida.

On3 ranked the five-star prospect No. 21 nationally and the third-best wide receiver in the Class of 2025. He is also the best overall prospect from Mississippi.

#3 Julian Lewis

The four-star quarterback from Carrollton High School will lead his team against Hillgrove in the 6A playoffs on Friday. The latest Colorado commit has led his team to an unbeaten record this season and will look to extend that on Friday.

After visiting the program in late October, Lewis flipped his commitment from the USC Trojans to the Colorado Buffaloes. The 6-0 quarterback chose the Buffs over Auburn, Indiana and Alabama.

247Sports ranked the four-star recruit No. 115 nationally and the ninth-best player at his position. He is also the 14th-best overall recruit from Georgia.

#2 Dakorien Moore

The Duncanville Panthers wide receiver Dakorien Moore is a huge reason for his team's involvement in the 6A Division 1 playoffs. The Texas native has led his team to an 11-0 record this season.

Moore committed to the Oregon Ducks on Jul. 4. He chose the Eugene-based program over Texas, LSU, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

The five-star prospect is the nation's best wide receiver and the No.4 overall recruit, per On3. He is also the second-best recruit from Texas.

#1 Keelon Russell

Keelon Russell, a five-star quarterback and Dakorien Moore's teammate at Duncanville, has led his team to an unbeaten record. He will lead the Panthers against the Woodlands on Saturday.

The five-star recruit flipped his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide from the SMU Mustangs on Jun. 4. He picked the Kalen DeBoer-coached program over Ole Miss, Florida and TCU.

On3 ranked Russell No. 3 in the country and the third-best quarterback in the Class of 2025. He is also the best overall recruit in Texas.
