Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis has been making headlines for his commitment to Colorado and his phenomenal performances at Carrollton High School in Georgia. However, his journey took a blow during Friday night's playoff game against Hillgrove.
Carrollton dominated the game and secured a 46-6 victory at Grisham Stadium, but the win was bittersweet as Lewis left the game in the second quarter with an injury to his throwing hand. The injury occurred after a hit from Hillgrove's safety Herman Brister III, which was later ruled targeting, leading to Brister’s ejection from the game.
Lewis was taken for X-rays and returned to the sideline in the third quarter with his hand in a cast but couldn't play the rest of the game.
Lewis caught a 7-yard pass before his departure. His absence put the spotlight on junior quarterback Dylan Bishop, who completed 10 of 14 passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns, helping Carrollton secure the comfortable win.
Julian Lewis is rated as a five-star prospect by both ESPN and Rivals. The only quarterback listed ahead of him in the 2025 class is Michigan commit Bryce Underwood, per ESPN. He is also ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the nation and the No. 1 recruit in Georgia.
Julian Lewis' performance in senior season
Julian Lewis has recorded 3272 passing yards, 44 touchdowns and four interceptions for a 145.6 QB rating (per MaxPreps). He has also rushed for 82 yards and added two more scores. Over his high school career, Lewis has totaled 10,484 passing yards, 140 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
Fans expect him to emulate the success of Shedeur Sanders at Colorado, and Lewis spoke on this during his appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Thursday:
"It was big for me coming in after Shedeur and what he's done to Colorado and what he's turned it into. It's definitely a blessing to get put into this position, coming after him with his dad. I couldn't beat it."
The 40-point win let Carrollton enjoy its undefeated record at 13-0. It also secured the Trojans a spot in the semifinals for the third time in five seasons. Carrollton will face Buford next week, and the Trojans fans will expect Julian Lewis to show up healthy.
