Gibson, a standout senior from North Crowley High School in Fort Worth, Texas, earned the prestigious honor after an incredible season.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound receiver was instrumental in leading North Crowley to a perfect 16-0 record, a Class 6A Division 1 state championship, and a No. 3 national ranking by MaxPreps.

His season stats were jaw-dropping: 93 receptions for 2,009 yards—placing ninth in Texas history—and 36 touchdowns, the fourth most in state history. He also contributed a 75-yard touchdown pass, 40 rushing yards with two scores, and a punt return touchdown.

In the state title game, Gibson earned Offensive MVP honors with seven receptions for 181 yards and three touchdowns, including a 75-yard score on the game’s first play. In the semifinals, he delivered two crucial fourth-down touchdown catches to help defeat No. 6 Duncanville and snap their 16-game playoff streak.

Gibson was a beast throughout the entire season; he had 247 rushing yards and took three touchdowns against Guyer and four touchdowns at the DeSoto game. Supported by Gibson, North Crowley’s offense scored 54 on average per game, and the team scored 864 points to break the Dallas-area record.

As the second wide receiver to win this award, Gibson joins notable names like Kyler Murray, Bryce Young and Derrick Henry. His recognition cements him as one of Texas’ all-time greats, adding excitement to Colorado’s future roster.

Colorado QB Kaidon Salter embraces competition with Julian Lewis

Colorado’s Liberty transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter addressed concerns about him in an interview with Dallas-based WFAA, explaining his perspective on the situation.

“No promises, all competition, and I’m willing to come in and compete,” Salter said of how Colorado recruited him. “JuJu, he’s a younger guy of course, so they wanted somebody in the room that can mentor him and help him come into college and feel comfortable. They felt that I was that guy that can do that.”

Salter noted that he first met Lewis during the Elite 11 camp, a premier event for high school quarterbacks. With four seasons of college experience, Salter acknowledged Lewis’ talent while expressing his readiness for a QB battle.

“(He’s) one of the best quarterbacks in his class. It’s all love over there, and it’ll be a great competition between us.”

Lewis, a standout at Carrollton High School, threw for 3,094 yards, 48 touchdowns and only two interceptions during his sophomore year, earning Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year and national sophomore honors.
