In a significant boost for Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class, four-star wide receiver Madden Williams has pledged his commitment to the Aggies. The Bellflower (CA) standout from powerhouse St. John Bosco High School chose Texas A&M over heavyweights like Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State and Texas.
Madden Williams joins Aaron Gregory, another four-star receiver, in the Aggies’ class. Williams is ranked No. 102 nationally by Rivals and No. 20 among wide receiver prospects. He is 14th overall in California for the cycle.
While some fans celebrated his decision, others were critical.
“Just wasting his time with A&M. 8-9 wins is the ceiling,” one tweeted.
“Terrible decision ... they have boy cheerleaders,” another tweeted.
Here is how other fans expressed their reactions:
"who cares he’ll switch atleast 3 times before he enrolls," a fan tweeted.
"I'm sure that meltdown loss was the icing on thre commitment lol," a fan tweeted.
"'Bro saw them lose to USC and thought “I could start day 1 there,'" another tweeted.
Williams attributed much of his decision to the revamped coaching staff led by Mike Elko.
“Texas A&M really became a contender for me this season,” Williams shared with On3. “I had heard about them before, but they were not high on my list until I started communicating with the new staff. Coach Holmon Wiggins was teaching me and working with me on stuff before I ever visited and coach Elko was talking to me as well, so it really picked up when the new staff got there and when the season started.”
Madden Williams finds his future home at Texas A&M
Madden Williams, the No. 259 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, found everything he was looking for in Texas A&M. The four-star wide receiver first visited College Station as a freshman during Jimbo Fisher’s tenure but felt an even stronger connection after Mike Elko took over as head coach.
A November visit for the New Mexico State game rekindled his interest, and a follow-up trip for the Texas rivalry game solidified his decision. After his second visit, Madden Williams and his parents knew Texas A&M was the perfect fit.
“They saw it," he said. "We all felt it. My parents saw how I interacted with the coaches, how they really are into me and how I got along with the players. They knew it was home and the place for me just like I did. We saw it all together. I am comfortable there. They felt that too."
Williams said Texas A&M offered everything he wanted: a top-notch coaching staff, development opportunities and a supportive environment.
“The staff and the environment are it for me. They see the potential in me and I get to work with coach Wiggins. He has a great résumé, he knows how to develop players and he is ready to work with me. I know he will get the best out of me."
Williams is coming off a breakout junior season where he tallied 50 receptions, 851 yards and 13 touchdowns.
