Three-star prospect Joseph Mbatchou from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, has quickly become one of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class. Originally from Cameroon, the defensive lineman has witnessed a growing list of offers from major programs.
On Wednesday, coach Kalen DeBoer's Alabama also extended an offer to Mbatchou for the Crimson Tide's 2025 class. He posted his excitement on X, writing:
"#AGTG Beyond Blessed To Recieve A Offer From The University of Alabama. @AlabamaFTBL @CoachCarswell @CoachTuftsJr @CoachSB_4theG @freddierch8 @grayson_fb @On3Recruits @RecruitGeorgia."
Alabama's 2025 class is ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the Southeastern Conference, boasting 21 committed players. The class is headlined by five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood, five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, five-star quarterback Keelon Russell, five-star cornerback Dijon Lee and interior offensive lineman Michael Carroll, among others.
The Crimson Tide have already secured commitments from defensive tackle London Simmons and defensive end Steve Mboumoua. Joseph Mbatchou's potential commitment can elevate the class to the top spot nationally.
The 6-foot-4.5, 275-pound prospect has also received offers from the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, Georgia State, Auburn Tigers, Central Michigan and USC Trojans. Florida was the first Power Five team to offer him, and he committed to the Gators on July 31.
But Mbatchou wants to explore more options and has an unofficial visit scheduled for the USC vs. Penn State game. He will also visit Florida and Georgia State officially this fall, while also having an official visit set up for the LSU game on Nov. 16.
Joseph Mbatchou's athletic profile
Joseph Mbatchou has gained huge attention on the football field despite his limited experience. Entering his senior year, the defensive lineman is a football newcomer, as he has only played the sport during the 2024 spring season. Over the first two games, he has recorded two tackles (one for loss) and a sack.
Florida is considering Mbatchou for a role as either a three-technique or an F. His rapid development has also earned him rankings from various publications, with On3 listing him as the No. 112 defensive lineman in the 2025 class and the No. 134 prospect in Georgia. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 99 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 105 prospect in the state.
