Four-star edge rusher Kevonte Henry committed to Alabama's 2025 class on Monday. The No. 1 junior college player from California had been previously committed to Mississippi State since June but opted for Kalen DeBoer's program after an official visit over the weekend.

Originally a part of the 2022 recruiting class, Henry first committed to Michigan in 2021, when he developed a close relationship with Courtney Morgan, who served as the program’s general manager. When Morgan transitioned to Washington, Henry flipped his commitment to Oklahoma. After spending a season with the Sooners, he entered the transfer portal in 2022.

Henry's re-entry into the recruiting landscape brought him back into contact with Morgan, now at Alabama. The two rekindled their relationship, leading to Henry’s visit to Tuscaloosa for Alabama's 27-25 victory over South Carolina this past weekend. He took less than a week to reconnect with Morgan at the same program once again.

Through five games this season, Henry recorded 19 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. His athleticism has led Alabama to recruit him as a "Bandit. The edge rusher is set to graduate from junior college in Dec., allowing him to enroll early at Alabama, where he will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Kevonte Henry's decommitment is a major blow for Mississippi, as the Bulldogs' three-star safety Steve Miller also flipped to Southern California after a while. It was the third decommitment in the past week, following four-star offensive lineman Mario Nash Jr.

Alabama's 2025 class update following Kevonte Henry's commitment

Kevonte Henry's pledge marks the first addition to the class in nearly two months, following Akylin Dear’s commitment on Aug. 20. He joins fellow junior college defensive lineman Steve Mboumoua in the 2025 class.

Henry is ranked as the No. 2 junior college player nationally, behind Mississippi State commit Zavion Hardy. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, he's positioned as the No. 262 overall prospect and the No. 27 edge rusher in the country, as well as the No. 21 recruit from California.

With Henry's addition, Alabama’s 2025 class has grown to 22 prospects, ranking No. 1 in the Southeastern Conference and No. 2 in the nation.
