Four-star cornerback Dorian Barney from Carrollton High School in Georgia has decommitted from Alabama's 2026 class. The decommitment makes him the second player to back out of Kalen DeBoer's 2026 class, joining cornerback Jamarrion Gordon.

On Sunday, Barney retweeted his decommitment post with the caption:

"GodGotMe."

Barney received an offer from the Crimson Tide in March and announced his commitment to Kalen DeBoer's program on May 19.

“Why I chose them is because of the connections and the development,” Barney told On3 following his commitment to Alabama. “They are developing players, they have developed them in the past and they will continue to do so in the upcoming years. Also, it is about the relationships that I have with all the coaches.”

The Crimson Tide's lone commitment for the class is defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland, who committed last month.

However, Alabama remains a powerhouse in recruiting, ranking No. 1 for the 2025 class, which features two elite cornerbacks in five-star Dijon Lee and four-star Chuck McDonald. For the 2026 class, Alabama continues to target top talent, including four-star cornerback Jorden Edmonds. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Alabama a 56% chance of landing his commitment.

The other two cornerback targets are four-star prospects Zyan Gibson from Gadsden City High School in Alabama and Caden Harris from Haywood High School in Tennessee.

What's next for Dorian Barney following his Alabama decommitment?

Dorian Barney has received 42 offers so far. In September, Barney named Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Florida State, Auburn, Notre Dame, Oregon and Florida when asked about some of the schools reaching out. However, one of the newest schools to catch his attention is Texas A&M.

Barney received an offer from Texas A&M in January, and he visited the Aggies in late October for their 38-23 win over LSU. Speaking with On3, he revealed the school's coaching staff's push to flip him from Alabama, saying:

“I got to talk to coach Peterson, coach Elko and some other coaches. Their goal is to flip me they are going to Texas A&M is very high on my list and I think they will stay there too.”

Now, as Barney decommitted, Texas A&M is a program to watch, and Elko's background in developing cornerbacks might play a big role in his interest.

Meanwhile, Texas' 2026 class quarterback commit Dia Bell reached out in Barney's decommitment post to recruit him for the Longhorns.

"🤘🏽 #HookEm," Bell wrote.

Barney has taken multiple visits to Georgia and South Carolina as well, and so several programs are in the mix for him now. He ranks as the nation’s No. 113 overall player in the 2026 class, the nation’s No. 11 overall cornerback, as well as the No. 12 player in Georgia, per the On3 Industry Rankings.
