Four-star wide receiver Kenny Darby wrapped up a stellar junior season at Airline High School in Louisiana. Although he has been committed to LSU for over two months, other programs continue to show interest, with Kalen DeBoer's Alabama extending an offer on Monday.
"#Agtg blessed to receive an offer from The University of Alabama @CoachShephard," Darby posted on X, tagging Alabama co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard.
Darby originally committed to Mississippi State on June 4 but decommitted on Nov. 3. Just over a week later, he pledged to LSU due to the Tigers' track record of success in wide receiver development.
"They develop receivers, and they are WRU," Darby told On3 following his commitment to LSU. "I feel like I can have a lot of success at LSU, and I feel like I fit the mold of an LSU wide receiver… The fan base is passionate, and LSU has a track record of success in the SEC and national championships."
Darby visited Baton Rouge last weekend to check in with LSU and remains committed to the Tigers. On3 gives the Tigers a 97.4% chance of retaining Darby's commitment, but he has also kept his recruitment open with upcoming visits to other schools.
Darby told LSU Tigers on SI that he plans to visit Alabama this weekend, which could boost the Crimson Tide’s chances in his recruitment. He has also scheduled a visit to Tennessee from March 11-13.
Which other schools are in Kenny Darby's recruitment race besides Alabama?
Kenny Darby started January with a scholarship offer from Kentucky and has since added offers from other schools before the Alabama one on Monday. The LSU commit also has received scholarships from Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Florida, Louisiana Tech, Tulsa, Arkansas State, Texas Southern, Mississippi State, Tulane, Texas A&M, Missouri and Florida State.
As a junior in the 2024 season, Darby recorded 1,754 receiving yards, 100 receptions and 24 touchdowns. His dominant performances earned him multiple accolades, including 1-5A Offensive MVP and First-Team All-State honors from organizations like LSWA and LFCA.
Darby is the No. 39 wide receiver in the 2026 class and the No. 8 recruit in Louisiana, according to On3.
