The Colorado Buffaloes have been active in the transfer portal, with their latest acquisition being quarterback Kaidon Salter. Coach Deion Sanders signed the youngster from Liberty University, and he will be tasked with replacing the Buffaloes' star quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, once he moves on from college football.
However, amid this blockbuster signing, there are doubts about signee Julian Lewis' place on the roster. The five-star quarterback from the Class of 2025 signed with Colorado on National Signing Day and was looked upon as the successor to Shedeur. With Salter's commitment, Lewis is likely to warm the bench to start his college career.
"TransferPortal" shared the news of Salter's addition to the Buffs' roster on its Instagram account, and fans were quick to react to it. They expressed their thoughts about the quarterback situation in Colorado going forward.
"Y’all not starting we got juju," one fan said.
"good, takes the pressure off of Julian and allows him to redshirt," another fan wrote.
"let juju learn from kaidon while getting to know the playbook and environment probably red shirt him then he gonna feel the shoes of shedur sanders," another fan commented.
Some fans mocked the decision to sign Julian Lewis from the class and expressed their feelings in the comments section.
"That pic of Shadeur handing the keys to JuJu aged like milk," one fan commented.
"JuJu would be very WISE to sit behind a seasoned veteran and learn the offense before taking over," another wrote.
"he not starting," another fan said, insinuating that Lewis will get the start over Salter.
Kaidon Salter was ranked No. 282 in the country and the 27th-best quarterback in the Class of 2021, as per On3. He was also the 44th-best overall recruit in the state of Texas.
Colorado expected to sign more quarterbacks despite landing five-star recruit Julian Lewis
Julian Lewis, a five-star quarterback in the Class of 2025, signed with the Colorado Buffaloes on Dec. 4. He chose the program over USC, with whom he had been committed since August.
However, Deion Sanders and his coaching staff signed Kaidon Salter from Liberty University, creating competition for the starting position. The program's offensive coordinator, Pat Shurmur, also spoke about their plans for the quarterback position.
"We’re going to do everything in our power to make sure we’ve got the best players and the best room possible," Shurmur said.
Julian Lewis became the program's best signee from the Class of 2025. He is ranked No. 39 in the country and is the sixth-best quarterback from the class, as per On3. He is also the sixth-best overall recruit in the state of Georgia.
