Jameson Purcell, an elite quarterback from the Class of 2027, is still unranked by recruiting channels but is turning heads. Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs took notice of his talent by offering him a scholarship on Sunday for the school's 2027 class.
Georgia player connection coordinator/assistant running back coach David Hill extended the offer to Purcell. The signal-caller shared the news on X, tagging Smart, Purcell, Georgia assistant coach Mike Bobo and his high school coaches.
"After a great conversation with @DHill39, I am blessed to have received an offer from the University of Georgia!!!!! @GeorgiaFootball @CoachMikeBobo @KirbySmartUGA."
Purcell’s standout performances for Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Illinois, and his offseason dedication have begun to attract interest from several Power Five programs, including Ole Miss, Auburn, Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and Indiana. Still, the young quarterback remains grounded and focused on his development.
“In addition to my normal training with 3DQB out in California, we lift weights as a team before school every morning and we just started spring practices," Purcell told Irish Breakdown in April. "We have been working hard to get our playbook down and build chemistry between all the positions."
Purcell is a left-handed quarterback with a smooth, over-the-top throwing motion. His leadership on and off the field has made him a key figure for Maine South, and he has further honed his skills by competing nationally in 7-on-7 tournaments with the National Playmakers Academy. Over spring break, he also trained with renowned throwing coach Tom House in San Diego.
Georgia Bulldogs 2027 recruiting class update
The Georgia Bulldogs 2027 recruiting class has yet to secure a commitment from any prospects. The cycle was hit with a blow last month, as Alexander Ward, a 2027 athlete out of Georgia, committed to Alabama. Georgia was in his top six, besides Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida State and Auburn.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are actively sending offers and are favored to land several promising players, like offensive tackle Joshua Sam-Epelle, tight end Mark Bowman, safety Adryan Cole, linebacker Cole Crawford, edge rusher KJ Green and athlete Brayden Tyson, among others.
