2027 class quarterback Trae Taylor is gaining attention from the nation's top college programs, including Kirby Smart's Georgia. The signal-caller from Carmel Catholic High School (Illinois) received his latest offer from the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Taylor shared the news on X, tagging Smart and assistant quarterbacks coach Montgomery VanGorder.

"I’m very blessed to have been offered by @GeorgiaFootball. Excited to get down this spring. @KirbySmartUGA @Coach_Gummy."

Despite only being a high school sophomore, Taylor has received scholarships from more than 30 schools. However, he is taking a measured approach to his recruitment.

"I just want to see everything kind of one more time before I start to narrow down what I’m looking at as far as schools that have interest in me or I’m interested in," Taylor said.

Trae Taylor’s skill set has impressed scouts and coaches throughout the summer, as he showed exceptional accuracy, a strong arm and a mature frame for his age. His ability to deliver precise throws under pressure has solidified his status as a rising star in his class.

Trae Taylor opens up about the Georgia offer

Trae Taylor's recruitment journey began in June 2023 when Michigan became the first major school to offer him. Since then, Taylor has attracted offers from powerhouse programs like Texas A&M, Ohio State, Miami, Tennessee, Colorado, Oklahoma, South Carolina and LSU.

However, the latest offer from the Georgia Bulldogs has left Taylor awestruck.

"I'm still in shock to be honest," Taylor told Rivals. "It's freaking Georgia."

While Georgia's 2025 class includes two quarterback commits, Ryan Montgomery and Hezekiah Millender, the Bulldogs have yet to secure quarterbacks for their 2026 and 2027 classes. Adding Taylor to the mix would boost their QB room.

"Getting an offer from Georgia Football was very unexpected on my end," Taylor said. "Excited to really learn about the staff and program.

As of now, Michigan holds a slight edge in Taylor’s recruitment, with a 38.7% chance of landing his commitment, according to On3. However, Georgia’s impactful entry into the race can shift momentum at any time.

Besides Trae Taylor, the Bulldogs have also offered scholarships to multiple quarterback prospects, including Charlie Foulke, Bobby Coleman and Daniel Mielke.
