Carmelo Anthony is considered one of the greatest to ever play the game of basketball. However, during his appearance on Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese's "Unapologetically Angel" podcast, his son Kiyan Anthony said that his father plays like a "bully."
Reese asked Kiyan about how he would describe his father's game, and the four-star recruit did not hold back with his response.
"A killer," Kiyan said (15:10). "Feel like he a bully a little bit, like he just move you get to the basket whenever he want.
"And he a leader, like he know how to bring his his teammates on. He know what had to tell them, where to go, tell them what to do, so those three words."
Carmelo Anthony played 20 seasons in the NBA and started his professional career with the Denver Nuggets in 2003 before last playing for the LA Lakers in 2022. While he did not win any NBA championship, he was a 10-time NBA All-Star and won the NBA scoring title in 2013. He was also part of the NBA 75th anniversary team and won three gold medals at the Olympics for USA Basketball.
In his lone season with Syracuse, he led the program to the NCAA title in 2003. Syracuse also named a gym after Carmelo and retired his No. 15 jersey. Incidentally, the school is considered the frontrunner to get his son's commitment.
Kiyan Anthony talks about taking something from his dad's game
During the podcast, Angel Reese also asked Kiyan Anthony if there was anything in his dad's game that he would want to have. He answered that it was his mentality.
"I would take his mentality, like even when he missing shots or even when the game not going his way, he's still going to find a way to get to it," Kiyan said (15:36). "So like I feel I was just taking."
Kiyan has said that he does not have the same playstyle as his dad. However, he understands his mentality well.
The four-star recruit is getting ready for his senior year at Long Island Lutheran High School (New York). He is down to his final three schools: Syracuse, USC and Auburn. However, while his father is connected to Syracuse, Kiyan said that Carmelo is not pushing him to choose his alma mater and is letting him choose his own path.
