Kiyan Anthony, the son of 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, reacted to a post on Instagram featuring Dylan Mingo, with whom he had played high school basketball for Long Island Lutheran.

The post by "SportsCenter NEXT" featured a picture of Mingo and highlights of the City of Palms Basketball Tournament match.

Anthony expressed his appreciation towards his teammate by commenting:

“my brudda onnat.”

On Thursday, the second day of the tournament, Long Island Lutheran triumphed over the Gateway Charter with an impressive 93-57 win. Mingo, the five-star 2026 prospectus, contributed 30 points that led to the team’s victory.

His 12-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-8 from the three-point range, was crucial to the game. Besides that, the 6-foot-5 ranks twelfth among in the "2026 ESPN 60" list, also impressed with 10 assists, seven rebounds, and five steals.

Mingo’s steals and triples allowed LuHi to build an early 10-point lead. By halftime, he had 18 points, and his team led by 15 points. In the second half, Mingo’s 16 points with three triples and Maxx Tjongondjoza’s 13 points (3/6 from three) added to LuHi’s advantage and the ultimate win. It is no wonder Mingo ranks third among the top point guards of the class of 2026 and has received recruitment offers from several schools.

When will Kiyan Anthony be back in the game?

Kiyan Anthony signed with Syracuse on Nov. 15. Shortly after that, in the fourth quarter of the season opener against St. Joseph on Nov. 30, Anthony suffered a lower back injury while attempting a dunk. Although LuHi won the game, 74-25, Long Island Lutheran John Buck confirmed that the four-star player would need to take some time off the court to recover, even though the injury was minor.

Anthony was absent from the court in subsequent games, including the much-anticipated Holiday Invitational match against Sierra Canyon. However, both Anthony and Bryce James, sons of two of the greatest basketball players, were sidelined from the match due to their injuries.

There are no further updates about how much sooner Anthony can be seen back on the court. LuHi appears to be performing incredibly well as a team, with stellar performances from the teammates. Anthony’s presence on the court will only add to the potential.
