"Laughing before dunking is diabolical": Hoops fans react to 5-star prospect Brandon McCoy Jr.'s dunk for St. John Bosco

St. John Bosco's "Big 3" is finally back together after No. 1 ranked 2026 prospect Brandon McCoy Jr. returned to the roster on Monday to support five-star Christian Collins and four-star Elzie Harrington. All members of the "Big 3" made their presence felt during the 65-62 win against JSerra Catholic.

Made Hoops shared on Instagram some of the St. John Bosco Braves' highlights against JSerra Catholic, including McCoy laughing after stealing the ball before emphatically dunking it. Meanwhile, others were happy that McCoy is finally back after being out since November due to a leg injury.

"Laughing before dunking is diabolical 😂😂😂," one commenter noted.

"Good seeing @g0beezy back!!! And Komin was exceptional too. @chriskomin_," another person said.

"Wish he played in hoophall," a fan wrote.

McCoy had 10 points, two rebounds, and four steals in his return game, and it was clear that the fans were really waiting for his return to action.

"Great news for Bosco they need him! Wish he would have played in the game back east this weekend they might have won although that team from Virginia was pretty good," one commenter stated.

"Beez back!," another fan wrote.

After the game, Bosco Braves coach Matt Dunn praised his players, calling it their best win of the year.

“That’s our best win of the year,” Dunn said. “I was incredibly proud of our guys. We control our own destiny. If we win out, we win the league championship by ourselves. That’s a great place to be. Like you said, that’s goal one and that would put us in a great place to be a high seed in the Open Division, if we can accomplish that.”

Brandon McCoy Jr. comments on his return from injury

As for Brandon McCoy Jr., the top recruit from his class, a title he shares with Tyran Stokes of Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks), spoke about finally getting to play ball again.

“I feel good,” McCoy said. “It’s been a long wait. Felt good to be back on the court and then getting a win felt good too.”

St. John Bosco will take on Orange Lutheran next, and that showdown will happen on Wednesday.
