Since retiring earlier this season, Derrick Rose has been busy in his local community in Chicago. This includes getting to play with his son, PJ Rose, in a basketball game, as he suited up for his alma mater for at least one last time on Friday.

Rose came out of retirement to play with PJ for Simeon Career Academy, making the alumni game even more special. The homecoming came as the Chicago Bulls plan to celebrate Rose's career on Saturday during their game against the New York Knicks at the United Center.

The moment also got several fans talking, with many comparing it to the LA Lakers' father-son duo of LeBron and Bronny James.

"LeBron and Bronny sparked this," one fan wrote.
"Bron ain’t the only one to hoop on the team with his son lol 🔥🌹," another added.
"Bron doing this in real time but y’all hated," a fan pointed out.

Meanwhile, some were happy for Derrick Rose, whose injury problems plagued his NBA career and is considered one of the league's biggest "What if?" situations. Conversely, others were just feeling old.

"This is legendary! And look at Benjis jersey on the wall and the Championship banners! Benji in 84 and D-Rose in the 2000s," wrote one.
"I remember this exact interview. Feels like baby Rose was just 5years old a few seasons ago. Hell, even Bronny! I'm getting old I see!" posted another.
"Wherever he goes, D-Rose is always welcome. People's champ!" commented a fan.

PJ Rose is only 12, which means he will not be able to choose which college to attend anytime soon. However, he plays for Twelve Time, the AAU team of Ja Morant, Derrick Rose's Memphis Grizzlies teammate and protégé.

Derrick Rose wants to be a director or producer post-retirement

Meanwhile, Derrick Rose sat down for an interview with Slam Magazine, released online on Friday. He was asked if he had any post-retirement hobbies, and the man who became the youngest NBA MVP in history said he liked working behind the camera.

"Figuring out if I want to be a director or producer, figuring out the difference between the two, because I always thought that they were the same," Rose said. "But I feel like I’m heading toward the director side, really catching the eye.
"I feel like I’ve put in the work, I’ve put in tens of thousands of hours in watching documentaries and films, weird docs and great docs. And now it’s all about taking the courage to actually be behind the camera and to voice my opinion. I feel like that’d be the hardest challenge."

He also said he has been playing chess of late and might ink a chess deal soon.
