Bryce James, son of the four-time NBA Champ LeBron James committed to Arizona Wildcats on Jan. 1. Meanwhile, he continues to represent Sierra Canyon High School. In their recent win 87-54 over Chaminade on Wednesday, the guard impressed with his performance with LeBron James sitting on the sidelines.
During one sequence of play, the 6-foot-4 guard reacted quickly to steal the ball and finished it down hard to complete the fastbreak. Highlights of this sequence were posted by the famous basketball page Bleacher Report Hoops. The Lakers' star took to his Instagram story to show his support for his son with a four-word reaction:
"TURN ME UP BRYCE 😈," he captioned his story.
Last week, against the Dallas Mavericks, LeBron James also slammed down a left-handed dunk over 7-foot-1 Derek Lively, which was reposted by his son with a one-word reaction:
"OMG," James captioned his IG story.
The Sierra Canyon guard, who is ranked No. 205 nationally, No. 55 in the shooting guard position and No 27 in California, had offers from Ohio State and Duquesne before he committed to Tommy Lloyd's side after visiting them on Nov. 27. Furthermore, the younger James also took a visit to his elder brother's alma mater, USC, on Oct. 8.
The Cleveland, OH native, represented his father's team, Strive For Greatness, in the Nike Peach Jam and posted averages of 5.6 PPG on 31.4% shooting, 2.4 RPG and 1.0 BPG.
During the game against Kiyan Anthony's Team Melo, James recorded eight points and grabbed two rebounds while Carmelo Anthony's son scored 18 points and dished out four assists.
LeBron James gives his take on Bryce James' college decision
During an interview with "GoJo and Golic" on Tuesday, LeBron James talked about the recruitment process for his youngest son and shared that his wife and he supported him with his decision:
"They recruited Bryce very hard and believed in Bryce and believed in his maturation process," James said in an episode released Monday. "He's going as far as a basketball player and as a young man."
"He made his own decision, and as parents, myself and Savannah, we just support him, you know? We're excited for his next chapter once he gets down there, and hopefully, I don't have to buy the gear." (From 8:19)
Bryce James will join Dwayne Aristode at Arizona next season.
