Bryce James and Jake West went up against each other at the Peach Jam play-in game. However, James turned into a supporter and reshared a post announcing the commitment of the three-star recruit on Instagram.
West had offers from top programs including Drexel, Pennsylvania, Mississippi State and Coastal Carolina but announced his commitment to Northwestern on Oct. 15.
West's recruitment marks Northwestern's fourth commitment in the Class of 2025, with the other three coming from Tre Singleton, Tyler Kropp, and Phoenix Gill.
Jake West is also famous on TikTok with 1.5 million followers and over 62 million likes on his posts.
West talked about his decision on his Instagram livestream which was also posted on a YouTube video by MADEHoops.
"I think just the visit itself was awesome, you know. It was like family right when I got there, the players and I bonded really well. The coaching staff was amazing and it's the highest level of basketball," West said. (19:28)
"I think the moment I shared it with my little brother. I think he's been a big part of this process and just me and him felt like it was the best opportunity for me," he added.

Three-star recruit Bryce James is the No. 98 recruit, according to On3. The 6-foot-4 guard plays for Team Strive for Greatness and went up against Jake West in the Nike EYBL Peach Jam Play-In Game.
Some of the highlights were uploaded by Slam High School on YouTube as James faced West, who played for Kenny Smith's team Jet Academy.
Bryce James has received offers from Ohio State, Duquesne, and USC. However, according to On3's recruiting prediction machine, the Buckeyes are favorites to land James.
