Bryce James, son of 4-time NBA champion LeBron James, and his Sierra Canyon High School may not be participating in this year's Border League, but he is following the tournament closely.
He even posted about it on his Instagram Stories, particularly the highlights of 5-star prospect, Brayden Burries.
The highlights that Bryce James shared on his Instagram stories showed Burries and his team, The Vale, take on the Florida Eagles, also known as defending champions Montverde Academy.
Burries and his team lost in a closely-contested match, with the duo of 4-star forward Trent Sisley and 5-star forward Caleb Gaskins being too much for the California-based team.
Despite the loss, however, Burries impressed those in attendance, keeping the game close and not letting the defending champions dominate.
He finished the game with 37 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists during his team's 79-85 loss to the Florida Eagles.
Burries is the No. 9 recruit from the class of 2025, with many coaches seeing firsthand what he could do on the court. The coaches present during the league were polled on day 2 and 247Sports noted that Burries has caught their attention.
The 5-star guard recently held official visits to Alabama and Arizona, with the schools having assistant coaches watching the game. He remains uncommitted, with pending offers also coming from Arizona State, Oregon, SMU, Alabama, and more.
College coaches keeping a close eye on Border League games
The Border League is considered the biggest preseason tournament in high school basketball, both for the boys' division and the girls' division, with some of the most high-profile scholastic and non-scholastic teams participating.
Because of this, top colleges around the nation have sent coaches and scouts to watch the games in search of the next big recruit.
Coaches and scouts from Alabama, Arizona, Boise State, Brigham Young, Grand Canyon, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Mississippi State, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Washington were spotted in Las Vegas watching Border League games.
This is not yet the full list though, but some are not just looking for new talent but to assess recruits they are after and the ones that are already committed to their respective programs.
