Former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas and his ex, Laura Govan, often butt heads, especially when it comes to raising their kids, one of whom is 5-star recruit Alijah Arenas. During his appearance on "Podcast P" with host Paul George, the elder Arenas claimed that he has been training his son hard in preparation for a career in the NBA. However, Govan disputed this in the comments section, saying that her ex is lying.

"Dude just be lying he’s trained him maybe 8/10 times …. Lies lies lies he tells …. #sayImLying ….," said Govan in a comment.

While she did not deny that he was training their son, Laura Govan implied that her ex was lying about him always training him and taking credit for his growth.

Govan and Gilbert Arenas have been feuding since they separated in 2014, with childcare being one of the most contentious issues. Arenas often complained about having to pay for childcare to Govan, who has custody of all four of their children.

After they separated, Arenas was paying $20,000 a month on child support, but it soon grew to $35,000, and then to $44,000 for educational reasons. However, after multiple court battles, a judge sided with Gilbert and lowered it to just $7,000 a month.

Despite this, Gilbert has been saying in various interviews that he takes part in training Alijah Arenas. Even though Govan has custody and the bitter feud he has with her, the elder Arenas is still allowed to see his kids, and has been seen in public with them.

Alijah Arenas beating dad Gilbert one-on-one, says mom Laura Govan

During a previous talk with TMZ, Laura Govan claimed that Alijah Arenas is now capable of beating his former NBA All-Star dad. A TMZ reporter asked the former Sacramento Kings PR staffer and reality TV star if she thinks Alijah could beat his dad one-on-one, to which Govan said, "Hell yeah."

She also had a lot of things to say about Alijah:

"He's a scholar athlete. He's sweet. I've seen him tell me to stop in the middle of the street, take off his shoes, and give them to a homeless person. That's just who he is in his heart," said Govan.

Alijah Arenas is ranked No. 5 in 247Sports' overall rankings for the Class of 2026. He is also the No. 2 shooting guard and the No. 4 player in California for his class. He already has several offers, including one from his father's alma mater, Arizona.
