The 2024 season for USC football has been solid, with the team sitting at 2-0 after Week 2. The Trojans have a break during Week 3, but their focus will soon shift to the game against Michigan on Sept. 21. Meanwhile, Lincoln Riley's program witnessed a massive win in the recruitment race as TY Jackson became the latest blue-chip prospect to commit to the program's 2025 class.

The four-star linebacker, from Seminole Ridge High School in Loxahatchee, Florida, surprised many by committing to USC earlier than expected. He was planning to wait until the early signing period in December to make his decision but committed to the Trojans just two weeks into the regular season.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect had confirmed planned visits to other top programs, including Alabama and Penn State, but with his commitment to USC, those trips remain a question mark. He will also play in the prestigious Under Armour All-American game in Orlando in Dec.

As a junior, Jackson recorded 135 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions while also contributing on offense with 15 catches for 257 yards and five touchdowns, along with two kickoffs for scores. He amassed more than 100 tackles in each of the last three seasons of his school career.

Ty Jackson is ranked by the On3 Industry Ranking as the No. 79 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 6 linebacker in the 2025 class and the No. 13 recruit in Florida.

Why did Ty Jackson choose USC over other programs?

USC offered TY Jackson back in May, and since then, he has been one of the major targets for the program. He also visited Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Penn State, but USC also earned a game-day visit from him this month.

Jackson watched as USC’s defense put on a dominant display by shutting out Utah State in a 48-0 victory on Saturday night. The performance was undoubtedly a strong impression, and the recruiting effort led by linebackers coach Matt Entz and defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn also strengthened USC’s case.

“He connected with the staff, the education is 1st class, and the location felt like home for Ty,” his father, Semaj, told On3.

The Trojans suffered setbacks in mid-June when both Justus Terry and Isaiah Gibson decommitted within 24 hours. Following that initial setback, USC’s 2025 class is now growing strong, with 19 total commitments and a No. 15 national ranking.

TY Jackson becomes the eighth commitment from the Southeast region, making him the first from Florida. He joins a promising linebacker group that includes Matai Tagoa'i and Jadon Perlotte.
