Louisiana-based high school, St. Martinville, experienced a tragic shooting incident during their latest football game against Earth High School in Louisiana. The gunshots were heard before kickoff as the teams were preparing for the game.
The video of the incident went viral on social media as it shows the exact moment the gunshots were fired on Friday evening. Onlookers and players alike sought safety as soon as the shots were fired. However, not everyone was able to escape, as the incident claimed the life of one person and injured others.
Earth's coach Eric LeBlanc spoke about the incident and took measures to ensure his team's safety amidst the chaos.
"We did not see any fireworks, so we took off," LeBlanc said, as per VerMillionToday.com. "It was not a good situation to be in."
According to KLFY News, the police have identified the suspect and the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office is carrying out the investigation. The game was canceled and the Bobcats were escorted back home once the situation was under control.
