Four-star wide receiver Kenny Darby has been committed to LSU since November, but his dedication to Brian Kelly's program appeared uncertain as he entertained interest from other colleges. On Saturday, the junior prospect hinted at a major update in a post on X.

"BIG ANNOUNCEMENT COMING SOON," Darby tweeted.

LSU fans breathed a sigh of relief as Kelly and Tigers offensive coordinator Joe Sloan visited Darby. As many had hoped, the prospect confirmed hours later, via On3's Hayes Fawcett, that he was ending his recruitment and reaffirming his commitment to LSU.

“LSU suits me the best & the best in the boot stay in the boot #WRTS," Darby said.

Darby’s decision is a significant win for LSU, as his name has been trending in recruiting circles. He started January with an offer from Kentucky and has since received offers from Georgia State, Toledo, Southern Miss and the latest one from Alabama on Monday.

Darby initially committed to Mississippi State on June 4 but reopened his recruitment on Nov. 3 before pledging to LSU after a week.

What potential does Kenny Darby bring to LSU?

Kenny Darby is the No. 9 recruit in Louisiana and the No. 39 wide receiver in the 2026 class. In his junior season, he led the state in receiving yards with 1,754, 100 receptions and 24 touchdowns.

LSU is getting a dynamic, explosive and intelligent playmaker in Darby, who remained loyal to the Tigers thanks to their strong performance on and off the field.

“They have state-of-the-art facilities and an experienced coaching staff that can help you develop your skills and reach your full potential," Darby said, via On3. "LSU has a rich history and tradition in football too. The fan base is passionate and LSU has a track record of success in the SEC and national championships."

Darby is one of six committed players in LSU's star-studded 2026 class, which ranks No. 3 in the Southeastern Conference and No. 5 in the nation. The Tigers also have another WR in this cycle in four-star Jakai Anderson and remain in the mix for two other four-star receivers: Jabari Mack from Destrehan High School (Louisiana) and O'Mari Johnson from Jackson Academy (Mississippi).
