Davenport North's five-star shooting guard, Divine Bourrage, knows a thing or two about being a youth basketball coach. After all, the LSU signee previously served as a youth coach for the TNT Youth Basketball Sports Club in her hometown. When Coe College star Mariah Thompson received a certification to also be a youth coach, the future Lady Tiger also celebrated on her Instagram stories.
""Riahhh," wrote Bourrage in her caption.
The NCAA Division 3 star has gotten a coaching certification from The New Threat, which revealed that she will be coaching kids from her hometown. The sophomore guard went to Davenport North and is from Davenport, Iowa, much like Divine Bourrage.
Bourrage wants to help coach youth basketball teams over the spring and summer before she begins her college days with the LSU Lady Tigers under Kim Mulkey. This is her way of giving back to her hometown's community.
Bourrage is the No. 7 ranked overall from the Class of 2025, as well as its No. 1 ranked shooting guard. The 5-11 LSU commit is also considered the No. 1 prospect in the state of Iowa.
Divine Bourrage's Davenport North Wildcats record first victory of the year against Assumption
After ending 2024 with a loss against Johnston and losing their first game of 2025 against Pleasant Valley, the Davenport North Wildcats found themselves on a two-game losing streak. However, that was snapped on Friday, as Divine Bourrage helped lead her team to their first win of the year against the Assumption Lady Knights, 44-35.
Davenport North held a 12-point lead early in the game, but Assumption rallied and came within striking distance, with the Wildcats only having a two-point lead in the second half. However, Davenport North had a rally of its own, stretching the lead and winning the game by nine points.
The Wildcats will be taking on Muscatine next, on Jan. 14, before taking on Clinton High School on Jan. 17.
