Basketball fans have argued that Sacramento Kings shooting guard Malik Monk had the best dunk in high school after a video of him dunking over a player surfaced on Instagram.
In the video shared on Courtsidefilms' Instagram page, Monk successfully attempted a dunk over an opposition player who could not stop him.
Although Monk’s dunk was not the only one shared in the video, fans reckoned that the ex- Lakers star’s dunk was better than those of Anthony Edwards, Paolo Banchero, and De’Aaron Fox, who all had dunk highlights in the video.
“Malik Monk hands down, a fan said.
“Monk in HS was must see TV, another fan said,”
Nah that shit crazy @ahmad_monk 😮🔥,” a fan echoed the same sentiment.
The praise kept coming for Monk, although a few fans chose other dunks too.
“That monk, another fan said.
“Anthony edwards💀, a fan went for Anthony Edwards.
“Monk😂🔥,” the Sacramento star gets the nod again from another fan.
“Ant,” there was love for Anthony Edwards from this fan.
Malik Monk- An elite high school baller
Aside from his dunking skill, Monk was a top prospect in high school. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard once scored 50 points in a clash against Lonzo Ball, who also recorded 19 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds in the same game.
The Sacramento Kings star attended two high schools, East Poinsett County High School and Bentonville, and was the ninth overall prospect and No.1 shooting guard in the class of 2016.
As a freshman, Monk averaged 22.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game at East Poinsett. He would later transfer to Bentonville, where he averaged 26.9 points per game as a junior in 2015 and 28.6 points per game as a senior a year later.
Monk also competed in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in 2015, averaging 19.7 points per game.
The ex-Charlotte Hornets star also represented the East Team at the 2015 Nike Global Challenge, averaging 22 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists, earning himself the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the process.
Monk is also a McDonald's All-American, playing in the 2016 game, where he shared the MVP honors with De'Aaron Fox, who is his teammate now at the Kings.
