Three-star prospect Nolan James Jr. committed to Boston College last December, but the running back's recruitment is heating up once again as Notre Dame is making a strong push to flip him. Marcus Freeman's coaching staff will host him on an official visit this weekend for the Indiana game.

Speaking with On3, James shared the goal of his visit, saying:

“I want to get out to see the place and see the coaches face-to-face. I want to get a true feeling of what the school is, the team and the guys are like.”

Notre Dame has been successful in developing elite running backs, with recent notable names like Kyren Williams, Audric Estime and Jeremiyah Love. This track record of success at the position may be a deciding factor for James, who has hinted that the Irish's coaching and development at running back is interesting to him.

"The program can produce NFL-caliber running backs, which is the ultimate end goal," James told Irish Breakdown.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Notre Dame an 88% chance of flipping James from Boston College. The Eagles have 26 committed players in their 2025 class, ranking No. 56 in the nation.

James' potential flip to Notre Dame will be a big blow for Boston College, as he is an elite player, ranking the No. 19 prospect in New Jersey and the No. 49 athlete in the 2025 class. Through nine games, he has rushed for 1,399 yards and scored 14 touchdowns.

Nolan James Jr. opens up about his relationship with Notre Dame coaching staff

Nolan James Jr. is teammates with current Notre Dame commit Elijah Burress. But besides the equation, the Irish coaching staff, including Marcus Freeman and running backs coach Deland McCullough, are also heavily pursuing him to flip from Boston College.

"I’ve talked to Coach McCullough and Coach Freeman almost every day recently, and I really like both of them,” James said (via Irish Breakdown). "They both seem very genuine and upfront, which I value very much.”

Notre Dame is targeting LSU wide receiver commit Derek Meadows, who is expected to visit South Bend this weekend. The Irish 2025 class ranks No. 14 in the nation with 23 committed players. The class witnessed decommitments of six players so far, making it crucial for the program to secure key additions before the early signing period on Dec. 4.
