Jalen Reece, a four-star prospect from Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida, committed to the LSU Tigers on Wednesday. The 6-foot, 170-pound point guard chose Matt McMahon's LSU over Cincinnati and Providence.
Following his impressive performance in the Nike EYBL Circuit, top universities extended their offers to the No. 10 point guard and No. 65 overall player in the 247Sports Composite rankings. The list includes big names like Virginia, Alabama, Kansas State, Ohio State and Dayton. Reece even visited the Providence Friars and Penn State Nittany Lions after his Sept. 21 visit to LSU.
“It was a cool visit," Reece told On3 Sports after visiting LSU. "Just knowing that players like Antonio Blakeney and Ben Simmons went there, those are people I look up to.”
Reece talked about his decision to go with LSU.
"I just felt like it was the best opportunity for me for what I want to be and go to the NBA, of course," he told 247Sports. "I just felt like it was a great atmosphere and a great environment."
LSU Tigers signed three top 100 prospects to their 2025 roster
McMahon seems to be on a signing spree this season. Reece is his third top-100 prospect who has committed to the Tigers. Before Jalen Reece, McMahon also roped in Mazi Mosley and Matt Gilhool. Mosley is No. 60 on the list of top basketball recruits in 2025, while Gilhool sits in the 89th position. With these commitments, the LSU Tigers completely overhauled their roster within five weeks.
However, Reece seems to be their most prominent signing. He is renowned for his playmaking and defensive abilities. In the Nike EYBL, Reece converted 34.0% of his threes and 71.0% of his free throws. Under Matt McMahon, he will have the opportunity to bloom into a world-class point guard.
