On Tuesday, Baltimore Ravens' Ed Reed became Chamblee High School's offensive coordinator, returning to his mentorship career. Reed had earlier assisted the Chamblee High but never in an official role.
On Thursday on the "Up & Adams with Kay Adams" podcast, Ed Reed and Kay Admas discussed football and Luke Kuechly, among other things.
Eventually, the conversation zoomed in on Deion Sanders. Reed shared he had coached against Coach Prime.
"I actually started in the NFL. I coach with Buffalo you know," Reed said, "me and Prime actually coached against each other in the Under Armour games high school and stuff like that. I played all sports like Prime. Like growing up in high school, I followed Prime. I grew up playing all sports."
As reported by the Baltimore Ravens, Reed expressed his excitement about taking over his new role in a statement.
"Excited about the opportunity to help the Chamblee community and teach this game to the Chamblee football team," Ed Reed said. "Thanks for all the support out there, and while other coaching opportunities were available to me, at other levels of football, I couldn't pass up the chance to coach my son."
Reed's son, Ed Reed III, plays football for Chamblee High and will be a senior in 2025.
But this is not Reed's first coaching stint. Aside from aiding the Chamblee coaching staff, he served as the assistant defensive backs coach for the Buffalo Bills in 2016. Moreover, from 2020-22, he was the chief of staff for Miami Hurricanes and served as the program's senior football advisor.
