Teddy Bridgewater, the state championship-winning coach of Miami Northwestern, made his name in the NFL as a journeyman quarterback who played for teams such as the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Miami Dolphins. He decided to hang up his cleats on Feb. 2 and joined the Bulls as its coach.
However, after a successful campaign in the high school circuit, the former NFL quarterback is vying for a comeback to the league with the Detroit Lions, as per NFL Insider Ian Rapoport. Bridgewater appeared on the NFL Network show "The Insiders" and revealed his plan to make a return to the NFL.
"That's the plan," the former New York Jet said on the show. "My team knows that's the plan. We wanted to win a state championship and then coach goes back to the league, see what happens, and then come back February in the offseason, continue coaching high school football. We'll see how it plays out."
Bridgewater led the Miami Northwestern Bulls to a state title in his first season as coach. The Bulls had a fantastic season, winning 12 of their 14 games en route to defeating the 13-1 Raines Vikings in the title game, 41-0.
