Michigan football signee Bryce Underwood extended his heartfelt support to LSU quarterback Colin Hurley following a car accident on LSU's campus. Underwood shared a heartfelt message for Hurley on Thursday on his Instagram story.
“Praying for you bro,” he wrote
On Thursday, Hurley, a 17-year-old freshman, crashed near the intersection of South Quad Drive and Highland Road, close to LSU’s south gates. According to WBRZ News, Hurley’s Dodge Charger struck a tree. Emergency responders found him unresponsive but breathing.
Firefighters extracted him from the vehicle, and he was reported to have a severe facial cut and fluctuating consciousness. Officials indicated that impairment was not suspected, though the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Hurley’s family released a statement through LSU Athletics, expressing gratitude to first responders:
"Colin would like to thank the first responders, the incredible doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Health and the many Tiger Fans for their care and compassion. Colin is resting and is stable while more tests and care are being administered. We are confident that Colin will make a full recovery from this terrible accident."
A standout player during his high school career at Trinity Christian in Florida, Hurley threw for 5,984 yards and helped secure a Class 2A state title as a freshman.
Bryce Underwood set to join loaded Wolverines quarterback room for 2024
The Michigan Wolverines are entering next season with a highly competitive quarterback lineup following the arrival of Fresno State transfer Mikey Keene and Bryce Underwood, the nation’s top 2024 recruit. Both players are anticipated to compete for the starting role alongside returning starter Davis Warren.
Adding to the depth, former four-star recruit Jadyn Davis may remain on the roster, creating an intriguing quarterback situation for Michigan. Keene, who transferred from Fresno State, has already shared his thoughts on mentoring Underwood.
"Bryce is going to learn a lot from me," Keene said according to EJ Holland. "I'm probably going to learn a lot from Bryce. Hopefully, I can leave him with a lot more than he knew coming in."
Keene brings solid experience, having thrown for 2,892 yards, 18 touchdowns and 11 interceptions during Fresno State’s 6-7 season. He faced Michigan at the Big House last year, recording 235 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in a losing effort.
Meanwhile, Underwood, a 6-foot-4, 214-pound freshman, is a dynamic dual-threat quarterback known for his explosive running and quick release.
