Trey McKenney, a five-star shooting guard in the Class of 2025, announced his commitment to Dusty May's Michigan Wolverines on Saturday. He received offers from Miami, Georgetown, Creighton, Notre Dame, Michigan, USC, Michigan State and Oregon. After narrowing down his finalists to three, McKenney chose the Wolverines over Georgetown and USC.
The No.21 overall recruit from the 2025 class told SI.com that he wants to be where he can grow best as a person and a basketball player. He wants to win at the college level and also aims to make it to the NBA.
McKenney visited the Wolverines in September. He said that the homey feeling and Michigan being his dream school are the reasons behind his decision.
"Just feeling at home and being given the opportunity by the coaching staff to come in and make an immediate impact and also growing up just Michigan being my dream school and watching the Beilein days," McKenney said on Saturday, via On3.
McKenney liked how the coaching staff spent a lot of time with him, even though they had their program to attend to. Trey labeled himself as a competitor who can guard at a high level and is a three-level scorer.
"I’m ready to rock Maize and Blue and put on for the fans and my state. Go Blue," McKenney said.
McKenney is the Wolverines' third commitment from the 2025 class after Winters Grady and Oscar Goodman.
