Three-star cornerback Antonio Cromartie Jr. committed to Florida State's 2025 class on Monday. The standout from Carrollton High School (Georgia) is the son of former Florida State cornerback and four-time NFL Pro Bowler Antonio Cromartie.
“It feels great to have the opportunity,” Cromartie told Noles247. “I’m blessed to have the opportunity to continue the legacy here, and having the opportunity to have an impact on the field and have fun doing it.”
Cromartie Sr., who played for Florida State from 2003 to 2005, earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2004 before embarking on an 11-year NFL career. Now, his son would follow in his footsteps to bring his skills to Tallahassee.
As a senior in the 2024 season, Cromartie Jr. recorded 85 tackles, four forced fumbles and one interception, helping Carrollton to a 14-3 record and a state championship appearance. He is the No. 185 cornerback in the 2025 class and the No. 226 prospect in Georgia, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He also excels in track, specializing in the 100-meter and 200-meter events.
Cromartie Jr. is the third defensive back in the Seminoles' 2025 class, alongside four-star cornerbacks Zae Thomas and Shamar Arnoux. He and Arnoux were teammates at Carrollton High, which also produced five-star quarterback and Colorado signee Julian Lewis.
Antonio Cromartie Jr. opens up about his commitment to Florida State
Antonio Cromartie Jr. received his offer from Florida State on Christmas Day, and his commitment to the Seminoles came following an official visit to Tallahassee over the weekend.
“I love the way all of their coaches coach," Cromartie Jr. told On3. "They push everybody. They don’t treat anybody different just because of who they are and I like that because I want to earn everything while I’m there. I don’t wanna be handed anything.”
Defensive back coach Patrick Surtain recruited him at FSU, and the prospect has a belief in Mike Norvell's vision as well, despite the 2-10 record in the 2024 season.
“Coach Norvell is building something special here and I want to be a part of it,” Cromartie Jr. told Warchant.com. “FSU is also the real ‘DBU’ and I want to continue the tradition of great defensive backs that have come through this program.”
With the commitment of Antonio Cromartie Jr., Florida State has 21 commits, ranking No. 20 in the nation. The Seminoles also remain in the mix for five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood and four-star edge rusher Zahir Mathis.
