Five-star shooting guard Alijah Arenas has been showing why he is one of the best high school prospects in the country and has carried his team, the Chatsworth Chancellors, to an 11-5 record. His mother, actor Laura Govan, took to Instagram to share some highlights from his games this season.
"A Work Of Art!!" Laura Govan captioned her Instagram story in which she shared Arenas's highlights.
Her highlights post featured Arenas in action against Prescott and Long Beach Poly. Chatsworth lost both games, even though Arenas put in some good performances. He dropped 56 points against Prescott but Chatsworth lost the game 93-87 in December. He also scored 40 points against Long Beach Poly but his team lost 61-60 on January 4.
Laura Govan has shown much support for her children, all of whom play basketball. Alijah Arenas is a five-star 2025 prospect, while Govan's eldest child Izela Arenas now plays for the Louisville Cardinals.
Her youngest daughter, Hamiley Arenas, is in her freshman year in high school and is playing for the varsity team. Aloni Arenas, Govan's youngest child is considered a rising basketball star in middle school.
As for Alijah Arenas and Chatsworth, he and his team are back in the win column after beating Granada Hills Charter on Wednesday, with the final score reading 62-45. They are scheduled to take on El Camino Real on Friday in their next game.
Laura Govan shares news of Alijah Arenas being nominated to the McDonald's All-American team
Being named a McDonald's All-American is one of the biggest honors in high school basketball. Laura Govan shared the official McDonald's All-American Game's Instagram announcement of the nominees for this season, which included Alijah Arenas's name.
Should he be selected, Alijah Arenas would be playing for the West, as he plays for a high school team in California. The 2025 edition of the McDonald's All-American games will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 1.
Among those nominated for the West team are LeBron James's son Bryce James, five-star recruit Koa Peat, No. 3 ranked Darryn Peterson and No. 1 ranked AJ Dybantsa.
