Alabama’s 2025 commit Ty Haywood, a five-star offensive tackle, remains unsigned, sparking speculation about his future. The 6-foot-5, 297-pound standout from Denton, Texas, ranks No. 22 overall and is the fifth-best offensive tackle nationally. While he remains committed to Alabama, Michigan is viewed as the frontrunner to land him, with Florida State also heavily in the mix.
Haywood has planned official visits to Michigan and Florida State, heightening fan speculation.
“Mommy and Daddy will make him choose the highest bidder,” one fan said.
“TT gonna drop the bag. He will hit the portal next year,” another fan said.
Here is how others reacted:
"My god dude just pick a school already," a fan said.
"If he was good with the Tide he would have signed in December. I don’t think we’re in this one, unfortunately," another fan said.
"No surprise. We knew he was shopping around," a fan said.
Michigan’s late involvement in 2024 has positioned them as a serious contender. Offensive line coach Sherrone Moore maintains regular communication with Haywood, and Michigan staff plans to visit Texas soon.
Florida State has been persistent in its quest to flip Ty Haywood from Alabama. As his mother confirmed, the Seminoles are scheduled to meet Haywood on Tuesday.
“Florida State will be in to see us on Tuesday,” she said
Haywood previously visited Tallahassee twice in 2024, including an official visit in June. According to On3’s Chad Simmons, Florida State is hopeful but faces tough competition from Michigan.
Currently, Florida State’s 2025 class includes two offensive linemen—four-star Mario Nash Jr. and three-star Sean Poret. Adding Ty Haywood would elevate their recruiting haul, making him their highest-rated commit.
Michigan pushes for 5-star Alabama commit Ty Haywood with revamped NIL strategy
Ty Haywood is ranked as the No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2025 class, per 247sports. A Mississippi native, Haywood committed to Alabama in mid-July. Michigan is making a hard push to flip Haywood’s commitment.
Although he pledged to Alabama, Michigan has reignited its pursuit with a revamped NIL strategy. EJ Holland of On3 explained the Wolverines’ efforts:
"Haywood seemed pretty solid to Alabama,” Holland told On3. “He grew up in Mississippi and was an Alabama fan. His mother is an Alabama fan as well. However, Michigan is making a late run here. The Wolverines put together a major deal for Bryce Underwood and are looking to do the same with Haywood. With Michigan’s new approach to NIL, I do think there is some optimism that the Wolverines can flip Haywood from Alabama.”
Michigan's 2025 ESPN Top Recruits feature 46 signees, including top-ranked quarterback Bryce Underwood (No. 1) and offensive tackle Avery Gach (No. 4).
