Five-star quarterback prospect Matt Zollers is no doubt one of the reasons Missouri Tigers fans are looking forward to the 2025 season. Ranked the No. 3 quarterback in his class per On3, he is one of the program’s highest-rated commits. The Tigers’ fans might have had their expectations shaken recently following Zollers’ trip to Penn State; however, he has come out to reassure Mizzou fans of his commitment to the program.
Zollers was at Penn State as the Nittany Lions lost 20-13 to Ohio State. Following the game, he restated his commitment to Missouri, saying he's “100% locked in.”
He added:
“My commitment to Missouri is strong because of my relationship with all the coaches there.”
He was also positive about his experience watching the game. He said, “I enjoyed watching that game. It was very competitive. I also enjoyed getting to see the coaches again.”
Who is Missouri’s five-star quarterback commit Matt Zollers?
Matt Zollers is a consensus top-10 quarterback prospect. The five-star prospect from Spring-Ford Area High School in Royersford, Pennsylvania stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 203 pounds. He's a two-way athlete who also plays basketball, a testament to his physical strength and athleticism. These two attributes have also defined his game as a quarterback, of which he is very proud.
He discussed his athletic success with the Philadelphia Inquirer and said:
“It all starts with toughness. If I'm being tough, it wears off on everyone else, and they start being tough too. It carries over to everything I do, from the football field to the basketball court – everything.”
This also underscores his leadership ability within the team. He led Spring-Ford to a 9-3 record last season with 2,917 passing yards for 37 touchdowns. He set the school record for most career touchdown throws and still has a season more to play.
With 21 college offers, Matt Zollers is one of the most recruited quarterbacks in his class. Even with his commitment to Missouri in April he continues to attract interests, as made evident by his recent visit to Penn State. The Nittany Lions could have been a favorite to sign him, having the advantage of being his home state school. However, Missouri won his heart.
After announcing his commitment he said:
“My connections at Missouri were just greater than they were anywhere else. This was a really tough decision for me to make.”
With his reassurance, Mizzou fans may now rest easy and look forward to seeing him in the team's black and gold colors.
