Just a week ago, four-star running back Akylin Dear announced his commitment to Alabama's 2025 class. Despite his firm commitment to the Crimson Tide, programs may still attempt to sway him until early national signing day. However, Dear clarified that he would not be reopening his recruitment.

"My recruitment is shut down," Dear told Rivals.

Dear is in the running to be the nation's top running back prospect for the 2025 class, and his offer list includes powerhouse programs like Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Florida and Auburn.

"Had to come out with a bang," Dear said. "I'm feeling great (about his commitment). I've got nothing to worry about with other teams, just worry about what I've got to do and keep God first."

Dear had previously committed to Ole Miss before deciding on Alabama, but he dropped his commitment on June 28. Throughout this time, he communicated with Alabama running backs coach Robert Gillespie, whose tireless efforts eventually paid off for the Crimson Tide.

Akylin Dear excited about Alabama's potential in the 2024 season

Akylin Dear plays for Quitman High School in Quitman, Mississippi. After a commanding 22-6 victory over Meridian, Dear's eyes are also fixed on Tuscaloosa. He is also excited about the potential for Alabama's offense under Kalen DeBoer.

“I like how Kalen DeBoer used Dillon Johnson last year,” said Dear. “He is from Mississippi, so I feel like he is going to give me the football.”

Dear's enthusiasm is fueled by the prospect of contributing to Alabama, as the Crimson Tide consistently competes for national championships. He was even seen chanting "Roll Tide" during his season-opening match.

In the victory over Meridian, Dear proved his explosive burst and tenacious running style. He kicked off the senior season with the same intensity that saw him rush for 2,016 yards and 27 touchdowns during his junior year, with 22 of those touchdowns coming in the final five games.

Dear is ranked by On3 Industry Ranking as the No. 38 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 2 running back in the 2025 class and the No. 3 recruit in Mississippi.
