Alabama is actively sending offers to multiple prospects across the nation, and 2027 class cornerback Aaryn Washington is one of the latest prospects to receive a scholarship from Kalen DeBoer's program on Wednesday. He expressed his excitement about the offer, calling it “more than just a scholarship” in an interview with Touchdown Alabama.

Washington attends Mater Dei High School in Los Angeles, California. He played a big role in Mater Dei’s 2024 CIF State Championship run by recording four interceptions, 20 tackles, a fumble recovery, a quarterback hurry and contributing 12 points on defense.

Despite being just a sophomore, Washington has caught the attention of many college programs. Besides Alabama, he also holds offers from schools like Washington, Oregon, Tennessee, California, Memphis, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Arkansas, among others.

Aaryn Washington shares his potential in Alabama's mighty DB culture

Alabama has long been synonymous with producing elite defensive backs, and Aaryn Washington understands the magnitude of receiving an offer from the Crimson Tide. For him, it’s not just about joining a program but also becoming part of a storied legacy.

"It means that they see the fire in me and my ability to play at the highest level, and I am appreciative of that,” Washington told Touchdown Alabama. “Their DB culture is crazy. So, for them to see me being part of that means a lot.”

Alabama’s defensive back pipeline is unmatched, with players like Patrick Surtain II setting the standard. He is now a standout cornerback for the Denver Broncos and is known for being an incredibly refined and technically sound player. The Broncos’ first-round pick in 2021 has already earned two Pro Bowl nods and a first-team All-Pro honor in 2022.

Beyond Surtain, Alabama has consistently sent defensive backs to the NFL, including Marlon Humphrey, Jalyn Armour-Davis, Cyrus Jones, Savion Smith and Dee Milliner. This tradition of excellence explains why Washington feels honored by the opportunity to potentially join the Tide’s cornerback room.

Being just a sophomore now, the next task for Washington would be to focus on his junior season and keep the momentum in his recruitment going.
