Alijah Arenas, son of three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, took to Instagram to post an appeal for help for his high school teacher who was affected by the Los Angeles wildfire.
Arenas reshared a post about his high school culinary instructor Ramon, who also owns a burger joint, 'Burgers For Life.' The caption of the post stated that during the wildfire, Ramon was giving back to the community by making burgers:
"anything is appreciated, my teacher lost everything in the Altadena fire," Arenas captioned his story.
Alijah Arenas also added a GoFundMe link for the audience to help his teacher.
His mother Laura Govan also took to her Instagram story to express her frustration about the wildfire, talking about the lack of water in the fire hydrants:
"Imagine paying California taxes, LA taxes, and high property taxes... only to find no water in the fire hydrants. Let that sink in," she stated in her story.
Alijah Arenas talks about moving to Class of 2025
The Chatsworth High School guard belonged to the Class of 2026. However, he reclassified to the 2025 class last month and will be looking to make a decision on his collegiate career sooner than expected.
The 6-foot-5 guard talked about his decision in a video uploaded on YouTube by Tarek Fattal in December, stating that he was ready for the next step in his career:
"It's just exciting like I'm just kind of like ready for it," Arenas said (1:11 - 1:30). "I know what I'm expecting, so I'm just here like, kind of just ready to take all the hits and then just move forward and keep doing what I'm doing....
"For me, nothing is really going to change but just going up, so I know what I was expecting going up. I'm not just making the decision and not know(ing) what I'm doing."
Arenas is averaging 25.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game this season. Furthermore, he represented Compton Magic at the 17U level and averaged 21.4 ppg on 48.0% shooting, including 24.3% from beyond the 3-point line.
Currently, he has offers from programs across the nation including UCLA, Arizona, Fresno State and more. Which college do you think Arenas will choose?
