The No. 1 ranked prospect from the Class of 2025 has moved up the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) scoring rankings to No. 8 as she now holds a total of 4,339 points after her dominating performance on Friday against Palo Duro.

She also climbed two ranks in the all-time high school scoring standings, from No. 10 to No. 8 with that performance. She passed Louisiana’s Katie Antony, who had 4,319, and Patricia Walker-Manuel who scored 4,327 from 1989-1992.

Earlier this season, Aaliyah Chavez passed high school basketball legend and current LSU head coach Kim Mulkey, who had 4,075 points while playing for Hammond High. LSU also tried recruiting Chavez and was named in her final six. The Tigers were soon dropped as she named her final five schools.
Where will Aaliyah Chavez go after high school?
Being the No. 1 ranked prospect from her class, many colleges pursued Aaliyah Chavez. However, only five remain in contention in her recruitment, and they are South Carolina, Texas, Texas Tech, UCLA, and Oklahoma.
She remains uncommitted and there is still no timeline on when she will make her decision, though she has already visited all five of these schools. She had also previously visited LSU before it was taken out of contention.
The three top contenders to land her seem to be Oklahoma, UCLA, and Texas Tech. Texas Tech is the most obvious, as the school is located near Aaliyah Chavez's hometown of Lubbock, Texas. She has also mentioned that she was impressed by the school's facilities and basketball program.
As for UCLA, Chavez has said that she believes that the Bruins fit her style very well and was impressed with the school during her official visit there. Oklahoma is the No. 1 contender though, with Chavez being honest about her admiration for head coach Jennie Baranczyk and noting that she likes how the Sooners play.
