Fans reacted to a shot attempted by Cayden Boozer, son of Carlos Boozer, at the Jordan Holiday Classic last week. Both Cayden and his brother Cameron represented Columbus High at the event, which took place from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30.
In a game against Kiyan Anthony’s Long Island Lutheran, the 6-foot-4 Boozer attempted a three-point shot that seemed destined to go in before it was intercepted by one of his teammates.
Although it's difficult to say with certainty that the shot would have gone in based on highlights posted on Madehoops Instagram, fans were adamant that it was never going in.
“He was not finna make et😂,” a fan said.
“Naw he wasn’t gonna make it," another fan said.
“We need to talk about his team mates bounce bri rose up there for that reverse flush🤢, " another user said.
“He saved him from air balling," another fan said.
“That would’ve been cold if he made that dunk tho,” a fan said.
“he was not making that it was already going to the left😂," another user said.
“That shit was going left he was not making it😂,” a fan said.
“He was finna air ball, lowkey saved him,” another said.
“Nah it was going left,” another fan added.
Cayden and Cameron Boozer fail to inspire at the Jordan Classic
Nonetheless, irrespective of whether the shot was going in or not, it was not a good outing for both the Boozer brothers and Columbus High at the tournament. The Explorers lost 49-57 to Link Academy and 66-77 to Luhi.
Although Cameron dropped 27 points and seven rebounds against Link Academy, he only managed 12 points against a Luhi side without Kiyan Anthony. Meanwhile, Cayden had a double-double against Luhi, recording 13 points and 10 assists.
Despite the two losses, the Explorers remain one of the best teams this season with an overall record of 10-3, including a victory at the City Palm Classic. The Boozer brothers and their teammates will aim to return to winning ways when they take on Riviera Prep on Jan. 10.
They also have a showdown against Coral Park on Jan. 15, followed by a game against Notre Dame on Jan. 18. Additional games against Perry (Jan. 20), Montverde Academy (Jan. 24) and Westminster Academy (Jan. 28) will lead up to a revenge game against Link Academy on the last day of the month.
