With rumors spreading about her commitment, Aaliya Chavez's mother, Andrea Chavez, took to Instagram to confirm her commitment status:
Chavez has offers from programs like Texas Tech, Texas, South Carolina, USC, LSU, Michigan, Arizona, UCLA, North Carolina, and more. However, she is yet to make her decision.
The Lubbock, Texas, native played three seasons with Monterey Varsity Basketball. Chavez played 39 games as a freshman and averaged 25.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 2.3 steals. In 34 games during her sophomore season, she averaged 30.0 points, 5.2 assists, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.1 steals for Monterey.

Chavez talked about the Longhorns in her interview with On3, stating that she talks to "them almost every day."
"They were one of my first offers too, so just keeping them in. They’re close to home. They recruit me well. I think I talk to them almost every day, and they always have high energy," she said.
Aaliyah Chavez's next stop in college basketball
With a long list of offers, Chavez will decide which program she would choose for her collegiate career. According to On3, three programs have the highest chance of recruiting Chavez: Texas Tech, Texas and LSU.
Texas Tech leads the race with a 32.5% prediction to recruit Aaliyah Chavez. However, Texas and LSU are not far behind and have a 28.4% chance of getting Chavez. South Carolina and USC both have a 1.8% chance of recruiting Chavez.
Chavez talked about what matters when she makes her final decision with On3:
"I don’t want a coach that’s low energy, and I need to make sure that they’re going to be there the whole time. I don’t want a coach that’s just going to be there for two years … I want them to be there all four years."
