AJ Dybantsa's Utah Prep teammate JJ Mandaquit officially committed to the Washington Men's Basketball on Nov. 13. The No. 50 prospect from the Class of 2025 took to Instagram to post a wholesome video to announce his commitment. After this, Dybantsa shared the video to his IG story:

"ya bra 🤙🏾," said AJ Dybantsa on his story.

Mandaquit had plenty of offers from top programs across the country including Hawaii, California, Creighton, BYU, Washington State, Virginia, Louisville and more. However, he chose Washington over Hawaii, California and USC after his visit on Sep. 21.

The 6-foot-1 guard was ranked at the sixth spot in his position and the third spot in Utah. While talking to On3, he stated that the main reason for choosing Washington was the coaching staff and the vision:

“I’ve always been a Washington fan because my grandma was from the area and we would always visit the campus when we would visit family in Seattle. Coach Sprinkle has been successful everywhere he’s coached and I believe in his plan for the program going forward," said Mandaquit.
"I also believe in his vision for me within the program and his plan for me to develop individually. I feel like Coach Sprinkle and the staff can help me achieve my goals as a player while in college and in the future to one day play professionally.”

While playing for the Salt Lake Academy, the Hilo, Hawaii native averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 0.3 blocks per game. JJ Mandaquit also helped Team USA U16 National Team to win the gold medal at the FIBA Men's U16 Americas Championship in Merida, Mexico and was also a finalist for the 2024 USA U17 Men's National Team.
