Five-star recruit Jazzy Davidson has reportedly committed to the USC Trojans and coach Lindsay Gottlieb. Davidson received a 98 scouts grade from ESPN.
According to 247Sport's rankings, the Clackamas High School (Oregon) senior is the No. 3 overall recruit in the Class of 2025. Davidson also received several offers from other big programs like UCLA, Connecticut, Tennessee and Duke, among others.
In an interview with On3's Talia Goodman on Monday, Davidson talked about why she chose USC and shared her experience when she met some Trojans players including JuJu Watkins:
"(My visit to USC) was 10 out of 10," Davidson said. "The campus is beautiful. It's a great school educationally, which is really important to me. I met the players and JuJu was my host, so just getting to meet her and getting to know the players was really cool."
Jazzy Davidson is a three-time Gatorade Oregon Girls Basketball Player of the Year winner and will join forces with Watkins, who set an NCAA record when she scored 920 points in her freshman year.
Davidson averaged 26.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 3.8 steals per game in her junior year. Clackamas High School coach Tom Cole had nothing but praise for Davidson in an interview with Gatorade in March:
“In my opinion, Jazzy is the most transformational player our state has seen in the last two decades," Cole said. "Her physical attributes combined with her talent and ability to impact the game in so many aspects make her a truly special player.”
What does recruiting Jazzy Davidson mean for USC?
With Jazzy Davidson choosing USC, the Trojans have successfully secured the commitment of a five-star recruit for the third straight year. After JuJu Watkins was recruited in 2023, the Trojans landed Kennedy Smith, Kayleigh Heckel and Avery Howell in 2024.
Last season, Lindsay Gottlieb's team had a 29-6 overall record. They also won the Pac-12 Conference tournament and made it to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament.
With incoming grad transfers Kiki Iriafen and Talia Von Oelhoffen, Gottlieb has a strong squad going into the new season. The Trojans also have some highly-ranked freshmen such as Rian Forestier, Vivian Iwuchukwu, Brooklyn Shamblin and Laura Williams.
