The North Carolina Tar Heels gained another big commitment from the Class of 2025, as four-star point guard Isaiah Denis is going to Chapel Hill. He will join combo guard and fellow four-star recruit Derek Dixon as the latest to commit to Tar Heels coach Hubert Davis' program.
Denis is from North Carolina and plays for Davidson Day High School. He decided to stay in-state for college as he chose UNC over Tennessee, Miami, Wake Forest and Ohio State, among others.
He is the No. 56 overall prospect from the Class of 2025, the No. 1 recruit from North Carolina and the No. 11 point guard, per On3. Meanwhile, 247Sports ranks him as the No. 2 player in North Carolina, the No. 8 combo guard and No. 47 nationally.
Isaiah Denis made his announcement during a live event on 247Sports' YouTube channel on Saturday. He said that Hubert Davis' program made him feel that he is a "want and a need" and that the school's uptempo playing style is a good fit for a player like him.
On3’s Jamie Shaw has noted that Isaiah Denis is lengthy at 6-6 and has "unique speed" when the ball is in his hands. He added that he still needs to add some weight as he often "gets knocked off his line relatively easy," but he does have a solid shot release, although a bit inconsistent. Additionally, Shaw believes that he still has a lot of room to grow.
Denis has shown he could win, as he led Davidson Day to the North Carolina state championship last season and his stock has been on the rise since.
After Isaiah Denis, UNC now looking to recruit AJ Dybantsa
With Isaiah Dennis and Derek Dixon secured, UNC coach Hubert Davis can now focus on securing the "big one" of 2025, No. 1-ranked AJ Dybantsa, who is down to his final seven schools, including the Tar Heels.
Dybantsa is expected to be a one-and-done as he is projected to join the 2026 NBA draft and be the No. 1 pick. He visited the school in late September but will announce his decision in February.
